Man Utd Transfer News: Boss talks £30m move, Newcastle deal blocked, Bayern revelation
EXPRESS SPORT brings you the latest Manchester United transfer news.
Renato Sanches - 5 things you need to know
Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has responded to rumours linking United with a £30million move for Foxes midfielder Danny Drinkwater, a former Old Trafford youngster.
"It's speculation," said Ranieri. "I'm surprised, because it's usually a month before the window opens that this sort of speculation starts.
“But now, is good. When big teams want our players, it is good for us. One year ago, no one was asking about our players. Now there are big big teams asking.
"Now they must be proud, but continue in this way. He [Drinkwater] has signed a new contract, he doesn't have a [release] clause. If he wants to go to Man U, OK, but we want to keep him."
According to the Daily Mail, United manager Jose Mourinho blocked Michael Carrick’s move to boyhood club Newcastle in the summer.
The 35-year-old reportedly had a deal in place to join Rafa Benitez’s recently relegated side, but Mourinho decided the midfielder deserved a place in his squad.
Carrick has appeared in just two games this season - in the Community Shield and EFL Cup - and scored in Wednesday’s 3-1 win over League One side Northampton.

Renato Sanches has opened up on his decision to join Bayern Munich for an initial £30m in the summer, despite also having the option to join United.
"I had a good feeling about it right away when I heard about Bayern Munich's interest," Sanches said.
"They really put in a lot of effort and I immediately got a feeling the people in charge believed in me as a player. That was the decisive factor behind my decision to join Bayern.”
