Confirmed: Mario Gotze signs for Borussia Dortmund as Liverpool and Tottenham miss out
MARIO GOTZE has re-joined Borussia Dortmund, the Bundesliga club have confirmed.
Germany's Mario Gotze was reportedly wanted at Tottenham as well as Liverpool
The forward controversially signed for Bayern Munich three years ago but has returned to his boyhood club.
"When I switched from BVB to Bayern in 2013 that was a conscious decision that I will not hide behind today," Gotze said.
"Three years later, and now aged 24, I look with different eyes at my former decision.
"I can well understand that many fans could not understand my decision. I would not even take it today! When I return to my home, I want to try and convince all the fans - especially those who do not receive me with open arms.
"My aim is to play my best football again."

Mario Gotze finishes brilliantly for Bayern
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, was said to have been attracted to Gotze's relatively low valuation.
Gotze's contract at Bayern expired next summer and he was supposedly available for £20m.
However, Spurs instead moved for AZ's Vincent Janssen in the transfer window, while Marseille winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou has had a medical at the club ahead of his move.
As for Liverpool, their capture of Southampton winger Sadio Mane earlier this summer may have ended their interest in Gotze.
