Liverpool News: Liverpool join Man Utd and Chelsea in race, Dahoud blow, Mane praise
EXPRESS SPORT brings you all the latest news from Anfield.
Mahmoud Dahoud is happy at Borussia Monchengladbach
Liverpool have reportedly joined Man Utd and Chelsea in the race to sign Axel Witsel.
The Belgian wants to leave Zenit St Petersburg after four years and has targeted a move to the Premier League or Serie A.
United and Chelsea have been heavily linked with the 27-year-old but according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Liverpool are now monitoring his situation with a view to making a move this summer.
Borussia Monchengladbach are determined to keep hold of midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.
The 20-year-old is a target for Jurgen Klopp and the Reds are said to be ready to splash £25m (30m euros) to sign him.
But the Guardian say Gladbach will not sell Dahoud due to the sale of Granit Xhaka to Arsenal last month.
Liverpool's Most Expensive Transfers
"You look at Mane and you think he's certainly going to be a goal threat," Mellor said.
"I don't think he's an out-and-out centre-forward but he can play centrally, on the left, on the right of a three behind the striker.
"One of his biggest strengths is pace, but I think the biggest thing about his pace is that acceleration that he has.
"Some players are quick but he has that real acceleration to get away from players and buy himself a little bit more space in the final third.
"On the counter-attack next season he will be a big player for Liverpool with that pace he possesses."
