Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.
The 18-year-old Rennes forward has been attracting interest from a host of top European clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
However, The Guardian claim Liverpool are now the frontrunners to clinch his signature with Jurgen Klopp speaking to the youngster on the phone this week.
It is understood Dembele is impressed with the Merseyside outfit's future plans and could be tempted into a move to Anfield to continue his development.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are readying moves for Nigerian quartet Jacob Njoku, Chidera Ejike, Suleiman Muhammad and Charles Ezeh.
The youngsters were on trial with the Reds last week and their agent Babawo Mohammed claimed the youngsters impressed at Melwood.
"They finished the trials this Sunday, Liverpool will have to go through the report before deciding whether to sign them,” Mohammed told Nigerian outlet allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I watched one of their trial games, they all did well, most especially Suleiman and Njoku. They will return to Nigeria next week.”
Finally, Tottenham have reportedly entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid Jonathan Ikone.
The Daily Mail reported Manchester City and Liverpool were monitoring his performances in the UEFA Youth League.
But French website France Football claims Spurs have a chance of landing the winger after scouting the £1.2million-rated youngster.
Ikone is yet to sign a professional contract with PSG and is understood to be wary of his slim chances of breaking into the first team.
