Rio Ferdinand: Joe Hart’s two fantastic saves reminded me of this Man Utd legend
RIO FERDINAND lauded Joe Hart’s display against Real Madrid, putting it on a level par with that of former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
Hart produced an exceptional performance as Manchester City held Real to a goalless draw at the Etihad last night in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
The England international had little to do until the final 10 minutes of the game, first when he keep out Casemiro before denying Pepe.
And Ferdinand has revealed why Hart’s displays had shades of Schmeichel about it.
“Joe Hart has to take huge credit with two fantastic saves,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“One of those was [Peter] Schmeichel-esque. You need your goalkeeper to play well at this stage if you've any chance of going through [to the final] and confidence is brimming from this boy.
“The top keepers, they could be out the game for 85 minutes and produce saves at the defining moments of games.
