Gomez is said to be a striker target for Manchester United
Gomez is currently on a two-year loan spell at Besiktas but his parent club is in fact Fiorentina in Italy.
The 30-year-old recently bagged the Turkish club's first goal at their new stadium, his 21st in the league and has been in red-hot form since moving at the beginning of the season.
And according to talkSPORT, United want to hijack Besiktas' plans to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.
However, their hopes seem to have been dashed by Besiktas board member Metin Albayrak who appears to be confident of sealing a deal in the coming months.
"We are going to hold talks with Mario before Euro 2016 and he will be a Besiktas player before the tournament," Albayrak said.
