Man United suffer setback ahead of Europa League showdown with Liverpool
BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER will not start Manchester United's second leg Europa League clash with Liverpool, Louis van Gaal has confirmed.
Bastian Schweinsteiger will not start the crucial Europa League game against Liverpool
Schweinsteiger featured in United's last two matches, appearing as a substitute after a two-month layoff with a knee injury.
And there were suggestions the German international would start the game against the Reds this evening (8.05pm) after featuring in the first leg.
However, Van Gaal has since claimed the 31-year-old is not fit enough to warrant a place in the starting XI, instead suggesting Marouane Fellaini will feature.
“I cannot say if Fellaini plays tomorrow because then I give away part of my line-up and I don’t want to do that," he said.

“But Fellaini has his way of playing and he can give us a lot of qualities and has contributed in a lot of games in a very good way.”
Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia will also miss the match despite training with the squad ahead of the game.

"For every player, it is difficult after an injury to come back in the team," Van Gaal added.
United must overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg to get past Jurgen Klopp's men in what will be a crucial game if the Red Devils are to keep alive their hopes of silverware.
