Petr Cech has been excellent for Arsenal

Cech has quickly established himself as a leader within the Arsenal dressing room, having brought considerable experience to the club after 11 successful years at Chelsea.

And he currently leads the Premier League clean sheet rankings with 12 after conceding just 23 goals.

Arteta is the current club captain but the last 12 months have been injury disrupted for the Spaniard and according to the Daily Mirror he is set to retire at the end of the season.

While Mertesacker, who is vice-captain, faces a fight for his starting spot with Brazilian defender Gabriel applying pressure.
