Real Madrid exit lined up for star linked to Liverpool after Alvaro Arbeloa speaks out
Eduardo Camavinga could become available this summer as Real Madrid grow disappointed with his progress, with Liverpool having kept tabs on the player for years

Liverpool and Real Madrid could reignite talks following reports that Eduardo Camavinga may become available this summer. Los Blancos, who secured Trent Alexander-Arnold last summer, are reportedly dissatisfied with the Frenchman's development and would contemplate selling him.
Madrid's impatience could present the Reds with an opportunity, though, given that they have monitored the player for several years. Alvaro Arbeloa's recent remarks may prove telling, as he laid the blame squarely at his midfielder's door following their latest La Liga defeat to Mallorca.
Pundits singled out Camavinga for failing to adequately track his runner in the build-up to Mallorca's opener against Real on Saturday. Madrid boss Arbeloa wasted no time in apportioning responsibility immediately after the final whistle, in a result that may well have ended their hopes of a La Liga title.
"On a play where we had the numerical advantage, a lapse in concentration cost us a goal," said the former Liverpool defender. "You lose your marker, you don't track him, and you pay the price."
Camavinga's deal at the Bernabeu is not due to run out until the summer of 2029. The midfielder, who has also operated as a left-back in Madrid, has made clear his intention to honour that commitment, though the club may hold an altogether different view.
They initially tied the player down to a six-year deal when he arrived from Rennes in a transfer potentially valued at £35million back in 2021. He signed an extension in 2023, though Camavinga is perhaps not quite as indispensable as he once was at the Bernabeu.

The Angola-born midfielder has completed the full 90 minutes on just six occasions across all competitions this season. He has also made 15 appearances from the bench, already surpassing his substitute appearances from each of the previous two campaigns.
That said, there could be a market for a player of his calibre at Anfield. There has been speculation surrounding Curtis Jones attracting attention from both within and beyond the Premier League (though the player has no desire to leave). At the same time, Real are reportedly keen admirers of Alexis Mac Allister.
There is also the consideration that Wataru Endo's contract is due to expire next year, with the Japan international having recently turned 33. Consequently, there may be an appetite to bring in fresh competition for Ryan Gravenberch in the deeper midfield position.
Should Arbeloa be retained and handed control of transfer dealings this summer, his comments suggest he could be receptive to allowing Camavinga to move on. And following longstanding links with Liverpool over the years, Anfield may tick numerous boxes as a prospective destination.
