Vincent Kompany's message to rivals Leicester, Arsenal and Tottenham after Man City defeat
VINCENT KOMPANY has reminded Manchester City’s title rivals not to forget their recent title history.
Kompany made his Man City return in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham
The City captain is refusing to believe Manuel Pellegrini's team can’t come from behind once again to claim a third Premier League championship in five seasons.
Successive home defeats to top four rivals Leicester and Tottenham have pushed City back to fourth place - six points adrift of leaders Leicester with 12 games to go.
But Kompany pointed out they were in far worse positions in both 2012, when they were eight points behind leaders Manchester United with six games left, and 2014, when they were seven adrift of Liverpool with five games remaining, but still came back on both occasions to clinch it on the final day.
“I've worked extremely hard. There's always that part that people don't see, the things you do behind the scenes. I've just been grafting to make sure I get the most out of the rest of this season and the rest of my years.
“I definitely won't let anyone decide for me when I'm going to come back. I decide when I come back strongly and I work more than anyone else to make sure I do that. People who know me are not worried.
“The only thing is, I want to achieve greatness, like anyone else in the team, and I just want to allowed to play the games. Nothing will break me."
It's the kind of spirit City are going to need for the rest of the season.
