Newcastle line up shock Premier League return for ex-Arsenal star
ARSENAL flop Nicklas Bendtner could be heading back to the Premier League with Newcastle reportedly interested in the striker.
Nicklas Bendtner may be playing at St James' Park later this season
Bendtner, 27, quit Arsenal for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg back in 2014.
But after scoring just nine goals for the club over two years it appears as though his time in Germany is already coming to an end.
According to German newspaper Bild, Bendtner is expected to be either loaned out or sold before February's transfer deadline.
Newcastle are in desperate need of goals as manager Steve McClaren seeks cover for the injured Papiss Cisse.
Summer signing Aleksandar Mitrovic has struggled to impress at St James' Park, with Loic Remy and Saido Berahino also on McClaren's January shopping list.

As for Bendtner, there are also claims he could be heading back to Denmark if Wolfsburg decide to offload him, with former club FC Copenhagen a possible destination.
The Denmark international initially joined Arsenal from FC Copenhagen's subsidiary club KB back in 2005.
He made just over 100 league appearances for the Gunners and had spells on loan at Birmingham, Sunderland and Juventus before finally being cut from their books.
