There were doubts raised over the 23-year-old striker's future at the club when his father stated that tax issues could push the Brazilian forward out of Spain.
This uncertainty put Manchester United, who tried signing Neymar for a record fee of £139million last summer, on red alert.
But it seems as if a potential move to Old Trafford could now be off as talks over a contract extension at the club are well underway, and the club's technical secretary Fernandez reckons it will only be a matter of time before a deal is struck.
“There will be an agreement with Neymar," he told TV3. "I do no doubt that. He will be Barcelona’s [player] for many years.”
Barcelona are confident Neymar will sign a new contract at the Nou Camp
Neymar has become a crucial player for Barca since signing from Santos in 2013, scoring 14 goals in 16 appearances as part of a lethal trio formed of himself, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Neymar did not get on the scoresheet last night but played 90 minutes as his strike partners scored four goals between them in the 6-1 Champions League rout of Italian outfit Roma.
