Arsenal’s move to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is close, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.
The Gunners have reportedly made a £45million bid to sign the front-man and Real are now considering the offer.
“Benzema deal is on: best offer is from Arsenal, £45mln. They will take a decision soon. He wants to reach Wenger,” Giulianelli wrote on Twitter.
However, Wenger is said to be looking at alternatives if the move does not materialise.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this month the Gunners were set to extend the left-back’s deal.
However, Wenger has rebuffed those claims, insisting he isn’t ready to discuss contract extensions at the moment.

“I’m happy with his performances but at the moment we are not in negotiations for a new contract,” he said.
And Arsenal are close to missing out on securing a deal to sign West Brom star Saido Berahino.
According to the Daily Telegraph, after offloading striker Robert Soldado to Villarreal, Tottenham are hoping to secure a deal to sign Berahino, who has been on the Arsenal watch-list as Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options this season.
