Chelsea legend hopes former Arsenal and Man City star completes shock move to Aston Villa
CHELSEA legend Ray Wilkins hopes Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor completes a move to Aston Villa.
Ray Wilkins wants Emmanuel Adebayor at Aston Villa
Villa have already brought in striker Andre Ayew from Lorient this summer as a direct replacement for Christian Benteke after he moved to Liverpool for £32.5m.
But boss Tim Sherwood is keen for a reunion with Spurs outcast Adebayor, who he managed for six months during his time in charge at White Hart Lane.
And Wilkins, who was appointed assistant manager at Villa Park earlier this month, is hopeful the club can add the former Arsenal and Manchester City striker to their ranks.
When Adebayor wants to play, he is extremely effective
Asked if there is a chance of the Togo international joining Villa, he told talkSPORT: "I think there is.
"I can only talk for myself, but I'm hoping there is because when Adebayor wants to play, he is extremely effective.
"He knows the Premier League inside out, so he would be a good addition for us."
