REVEALED: The 'anti-Barcelona' clause prohibiting deal for Man Utd flop
BARCELONA can't sign Angel Di Maria because he has a clause in his contract preventing him from doing so, according to reports.
Angel Di Maria - Spotlight On
Di Maria has been talked up with a move away from Old Trafford after failing to adjust to life in the Premier League following a £60million switch from Real Madrid last summer.
Spanish paper Sport claimed Jorge Mendes had offered his client to Barcelona in order to escape his nightmare in England.
Paris Saint-Germain were also interested in the Argentine last summer, but Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions prevented a deal being struck.
[Will I leave?] No, because I'm not thinking like that
But Spanish paper Mundo Deportivo claim Di Maria's former employers Real inserted a clause in his contract when he left prevented him from moving to the Nou Camp.
The clause was designed to prevent Di Maria from joining a direct rival.
Despite the persistent transfer speculation, Di Maria claims he wants to fight for a first-team spot at Old Trafford.
Angel Di Maria won't be allowed to join Barcelona
He told Argentine newspaper Ole: "[Will I leave?] No, because I'm not thinking like that.
"In Madrid there were times when I was whistled around the stadium but faced it and then turned it around. I like to deal with things."
