Swansea boss Garry Monk had to persuade Ki Sung-yueng not to join Sunderland
SWANSEA manager Garry Monk has revealed he had to persuade Ki Sung-yueng not to join today’s opponents Sunderland.
Garry Monk says he was pivotal in keeping Ki Sung-yueng at the club
The 26-year-old, back from Asia Cup duty, spent last season on loan with the Black Cats and Gus Poyet was keen to make that permanent.
Monk said: “I sat down and told him how I felt he could play a big part and he has been excellent for us. “
Poyet, meanwhile, wants his players jumping through hoops to avoid relegation.
The Uruguayan feels his players should adopt some basketball techniques.
He said: “It can help in football, especially with marking.”
