Steven Gerrard needs to accept Frank Lampard role for Liverpool - Paul Ince
PAUL INCE believes that Steven Gerrard can replicate Frank Lampard's ageless performances but only if he accepts a reduced role for Liverpool.
Steven Gerrard has been offered a new contract at Liverpool
Lampard continues to impress for Manchester City at the age of 36, despite leaving Chelsea last summer.
And Ince thinks Gerrard can continue to have a huge impact for the Reds in limited doses.
He told talkSPORT: "Stevie wants to play football. When you get to that age, you get selfish, and think you can play every game.
"I played until I was 37 and I wanted to play every game. Sometimes you have to listen to the manager. And he looked fresh last night, he looked really good.

He is 34, Frank Lampard is 36, so he has still got a few years on Frank
"Him and Brendan Rodgers have to sit down and come to a compromise about when he is going to play and when he is not going to play.
"He is 34, Frank Lampard is 36, so he has still got a few years on Frank and you see what he is doing at Manchester City.
"I believe he is a great player. You saw last night what he brings to Liverpool and how important he is to the club."
Gerrard has been offered a new contract at Anfield but is yet to decide whether or not to commit his future to the club.
