Menez claims he could have joined the ranks at Manchester United[GETTY]
The 27-year-old, formly of Roma, has got off to an impressive start to his return to Serie A, scoring three in two outings.
The France international moved to Milan in the summer window after a struggling to cement a first-team spot at Paris Saint-Germain.
And Menez admits he had the chance to join the ranks at Old Trafford a year before moving to the Ligue 1 giants, but somewhat reluctantly turned down then-boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
“Saying no to Ferguson wasn’t easy, but I was still young and I had to follow my own path,” he said.

"Then when [Vincenzo] Montella came to Roma, it became difficult. Before he came, I was playing all the time, but he had different ideas.
"I was then a first-team regular at Paris Saint-Germain under Carlo Ancelotti, but Laurent Blanc came along and he dropped me.
"After an operation, I came back and scored, but nothing changed. I accepted his decision, even if it was hard," he added.
