Rooney, now captain of both the Red Devils and England, spoke ahead of Wednesday night's international friendly against Norway and gave a glowing appraisal of United's new loanee.
He said: "I don't know how Falcao's arrival could affect my role. I think it is a fantastic signing."
However the Monaco man's arrival could well jeopardise Rooney's striking role - and could see England's talisman dropped into midfield.

Rooney added: "He [Falcao] is one of the best players in the world. It is a real show of intent by Manchester United.
"It is a thrill. We have an exciting team. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and I want it to be successful."
United's succession of high-profile signings and the harmony within the squad will come as welcome relief for supporters who have endured a lacklustre start to the season.
