Michael Owen: Adam Lallana's a good signing but leaky Liverpool need to sign a defender!
FORMER Liverpool striker Michael Owen has praised the club's signing of Adam Lallana but questioned why the club have yet to sign a defender this summer.
The Anfield outfit finally sealed a £25m deal for England international Lallana today following up the £10m purchase of Emre Can from Bayer Leverkusen.
Brendan Rodgers' men scored a whopping 101 goals last season but their leaky defence conceded 50 times which cost them the Premier League title.
Owen told Sportlobster of his shock that Rodgers hadn't made a defender his main transfer priority.
Lallana signs for Reds
He said: "Lallana is another good buy for Liverpool.
"Plenty of attacking options for next season but slightly surprised Brendan Rogers hasn’t added a defender to his squad yet."
Liverpool have been heavily linked with Southampton centre back Dejan Lovren, Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno and Benfica right-back Maxi Pereira.
