Joleon Lescott made 107 appearances for Manchester City during his five year stay [GETTY]
Reports claim that the Tigers are no longer in pole position to sign the former England international, with Lescott heading to the Hawthorns for a medical later this week.
The news will come as a massive blow to Hull fans who had hoped to add international class to their threadbare defence.
Lescott featured in just ten Premier League games for City last season [GETTY]
Lescott has endured an indifferent spell with the champions, making just 10 Premier League appearances in their title winning season.
His misery was compounded after Manuel Pellegrini made his preference for Argentine veteran defender Martin Demichelis clear.
Despite both Lescott and new West Brom manager Alan Irvine both being affiliated with Everton, their spells at Goodison Park did not overlap.
Signing a double Premier League winner and England international is sure to endear Irvine to Baggies fans who have greeted the Scot with an air of suspicion.
