TEAM NEWS: Soldado, Vertonghen and Walker out for Spurs; Morrison in doubt for West Brom
TOTTENHAM will not have Roberto Soldado back for Saturday’s trip to West Brom.
The Spanish striker picked up a hamstring injury against Liverpool on 30 March but has since returned to training.
Saturday’s game against the Baggies will come too soon for Soldado though with Emmanuel Adebayor likely to continue up front for Spurs.
Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood said: “Soldado is training but it’s only his second day training today.
We can’t rush him back after a hamstring injury
“He obviously got carried off on a stretcher against Liverpool with a hamstring injury so I’m surprised he’s back but pleased.
“We can’t rush him back after a hamstring injury. It’s liable to go again so we’ll need to be very, very careful.”
Elsewhere Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker are “not close” to a return while Mousa Dembele and Etienne Capoue are both absent.
However, Erik Lamela is fit and could return for Spurs despite not featuring in the provisional squad.
Meanwhile, James Morrison is a doubt for West Brom with an ankle problem but Chris Brunt and Claudio Yacob could feature for Pepe Mel’s side after overcoming injuries.
