Matt Smith and Ross McCormack grabbed the crucial goals for the home side before substitute DJ Campbell pulled one back for the visitors in the second half.
The three points move Brian McDermott's side up to 13th place in the table while defeat for the Lions keeps them in the relegation zone.

McDermott said: "We've been on a run of form that has been difficult to say the least but you've got to remember how many young players we've got in this team. They will benefit from the season we've had and everything that has gone with it as well."
