Ajax warn Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and City over Joel Veltman and Davy Klaassen
AJAX director of football Marc Overmars has issued former club Arsenal with a hands off warning in respect of talented youngsters Joel Veltman and Davy Klaassen - and has given the same message to Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.
The young pair have attracted scouts from a host of Premier League clubs and the Arsenal, United, City and Chelsea all had scouts present for the Dutch club's match against Groningen last Thursday.
United have been heavily linked with a summer move for centre-back Veltman while the Gunners are thought to hold pole position in relation to attacking midfielder Klaassen.
But Overmars insists neither player will be going anywhere in the near future.
He said: "We are constantly working on a puzzle and every time you have it almost complete, it can fall apart, because a piece is snapped up.
"But I will lie in front of the gate when they come for Joel Veltman or Davy Klaassen.
"I love Ajax being attractive for a transfer, but these guys are not leaving here."
Veltman's deal at Ajax expires in 2017 while Klaassen's deal runs out in 2016 but Overmars is already looking to extend both the youngsters' contracts.
He added: "We have the intention to break open the contracts, and then upgrade and extend."
