Newcastle 2 - Norwich 1: Remy and Gouffran provide Pardew with all three points
LOIC REMY and Yoann Gouffran were both on target as Newcastle United enjoyed a comfortable afternoon against Norwich.
The Magpies were looking to kick on after back-to-back wins against Chelsea and Tottenham before the international break, and two first-half strikes settled any nerves inside St James' Park.
Alan Pardew's side were off and running inside two minutes.
Yohan Cabaye flighted in an inviting corner and Remy couldn't believe his luck as Norwich were caught napping and he powered home a header from close range.
The Magpies continued to assert their dominance with Cheick Tiote trying his luck from distance but ballooned his shot over the bar.
Norwich then conceded a second seven minutes before the break.
Shola Ameobi had a header parried by John Ruddy and Gouffran was on hand to prod the ball home.
Leroy Fer grabbed a consolation 10 minutes from time, but Newcastle held on to make it a miserable return for former boss Chris Hughton.
Newcastle move up to eighth in the table courtesy of this win.
