Derby 5 - Tranmere 0: Derby’s five-star show
DERBY avoided a potential upset with an emphatic victory which never looked in any doubt from the moment Ben Davies put them ahead in the 43rd minute.
Tranmere goalkeeper Owain fon Williams spilled a shot from Paul Coutts allowing Davies to pounce.
Connor Sammon and John Brayford capitalised on more defensive slackness to add early second-half goals. And Jeff Hendrick scored a cracker from 20 yards before Mason Bennett enjoyed his late introduction as a substitute to complete the five-goal win.
We took our chances today
Derby manager Nigel Clough said: “To be honest, I didn’t think it was a 5-0. We took our chances today.”
Rovers boss Ronnie Moore said: “If you give goals away like that you’ll get beat by the Dog and Duck.”
