James Tavernier's Rangers farewell cancelled as he storms out of Ibrox after furious row
Rangers captain James Tavernier was expected to say goodbye to Ibrox after 11 years at the club - but had a pre-match bust-up with boss Danny Rohl.

James Tavernier's Ibrox farewell has been scrapped following an alleged pre-match row with manager Danny Rohl. The outgoing Rangers captain had been scheduled to bid goodbye to the Govan supporters after 11 years at the club ahead of tonight's final home fixture of the campaign against Hibs. A ceremony to honour his lengthy service alongside club legend John Greig had also been arranged.
However, it's being reported those arrangements have been abandoned after Tavernier declined to turn up. This follows an explosive exchange with boss Rohl, who informed the captain he would not be in the starting line-up against David Gray's team. That enraged Tavernier, who had organised for his family to attend in person to witness his grand departure.
Following discussions with the manager, it's claimed the 34-year-old addressed his team-mates before "storming out of Ibrox".
It remains uncertain whether he will appear again for the club - who conclude another trophy-less campaign against Falkirk this Saturday. Tavernier announced last month he would depart the club he initially joined back in 2015.
He was part of the squad that guided the club out of the Championship in 2015 and captained the side to its first league title in a decade in 2021.
He's also lifted one Scottish Cup and one League Cup as captain and led the team to the final of the Europa League in 2022.
It now seems that Tavernier - who has netted 144 goals in 562 appearances - may have played his final match for Gers in Sunday's Old Firm defeat to Celtic.
