Erik ten Hag remains Manchester United's manager around 48 hours on from the club's showdown executive meeting in London on Tuesday. But the Dutchman is still under serious pressure, and it hasn't yet been indicated that he will definitely take charge when Brentford visit Old Trafford in the Premier League on October 19.

Ten Hag has been away from Manchester on holiday in recent days, reportedly comfortable with the knowledge that he will be afforded more time to make things right.

But his future will have undoubtedly been discussed among United's hierarchy at the start of the week.

Man Utd 'make mind up' on Erik ten Hag

Graeme Souness believes Manchester United have already made their mind up on Erik ten Hag, leaving a sacking inevitable.

“When it comes to whether or not they keep Erik ten Hag, I would think the owners have made their minds up already – unless United turn a major corner soon," Souness told the Three Up Front podcast.

“I don’t know what to make of United anymore. We’ve been having the same conversations about them for a decade, but I haven’t seen any improvements, not even under the new ownership. I thought they’d be better this season, but they haven’t improved at all.

“And that’s just the playing staff. I’m looking at the people higher up and wondering, are they going to turn Man Utd around? Where’s their football knowledge coming from at the highest level?”

Harry Maguire leads George Baldock tributes

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire was among those to pay tribute to George Baldock on Wednesday night.

Baldock made over 200 appearances for Sheffield United before joining Greek side Panathinaikos in the summer.

The 31-year-old was reportedly found dead in his swimming pool in Greece.

Maguire, a former Sheffield United player, reacted to the tragic news on Instagram, posting an image of Baldock captioned: "RIP [heartbreak emoji]."

Erik ten Hag backed to receive months

Simon Jordan has backed Manchester United to hand Erik ten Hag months to turn things around at the club.

"Yeah, [it would be a surprise if they sacked Ten Hag right now], absolutely. They've got a new management structure in place. It's hardly bedded in," Jordan told talkSPORT.

However, Jordan is unconvinced Ten Hag will ultimately survive the season, predicting a January sacking.

He added: "You cannot expect Man United to have their worst season in the league and start this season in the same way.

"So [Ten Hag's] numbers are coming up now, in terms of his time will run its course. But I don't think it's now. My view was that he will be gone in January.

"Not because I've got any dog in the fight, not because I really care that much about Man United. But I think that, ultimately, he isn't going to get them where they need to go."

Man Utd fail to agree on Erik ten Hag

Manchester United bosses reportedly couldn't come to an overall agreement over whether the time was right to sack Erik ten Hag during Tuesday's meeting.

According to TBR Football, the United hierarchy also couldn't unanimously decide on the right candidate to succeed Ten Hag, leaving him in the job for now.

However, the report does add that the club have major concerns about their potential inability to qualify for the Champions League.

And the games against Brentford and Fenerbahce after the international break could be significant in deciding his future.

Erik ten Hag has Man Utd job belief

Erik ten Hag believes he will be the Manchester United manager when Brentford visit Old Trafford in nine days' time.

That's according to the Mail, who claim the Dutchman plans to return to Carrington from a brief holiday early next week.

However, the same report states that INEOS don't want to publicly give Ten Hag another vote of confidence while his future is shadowed in uncertainty.
