Arsenal ace Bukayo Saka has revealed the one thing that's left him 'speechless' so far this season.

Saka starred in the victory for Mikel Arteta’s side, who had fallen behind midway through the second half when Cameron Archer netted a surprise opener for the relegation-threatened Saints.

Southampton’s lead lasted only three minutes, with Saka providing the assist for Kai Havertz’s immediate equaliser.

Just 10 minutes later Saka was once again setting his team-mates up, this time Gabriel Martinelli the beneficiary, before the English international snatched a goal of his own late on in the contest.

But despite taking home yet another Man of the Match award, Saka has admitted the one thing that left him without words was the feeling he gets when walking out in front of the Emirates Stadium with the captain’s armband.

The 23-year-old has been among those deputising as skipper for Martin Odegaard while the Norwegian recovers from injury, with Saka opening up on the joys of captaining the side.

Speaking in an interview with CBS Sports, the Gunners ace said: “That's one of the things where I become speechless when people ask me.

"Everyone knows my journey, where I came from. To take the captain's armband, walk the lads out at the Emirates Stadium. I can't put it into words."

Saka is under no illusion as to how important he is to the Arteta project, whether that’s with the armband or not, but the attacker’s game appears to have taken a step up in recent months.

Part of that, Saka believes, is down to his blossoming relationship with Havertz, who boasts four goals from his first seven Premier League appearances this term.

On his connection with the German, Saka continued: "I've always thought Kai's an unbelievable player. Everyone in the dressing room did too.

“We're so happy that he's showing that. This season he has come out with even more confidence, I think he's scored in almost every game.

"He's going to score a lot of goals this season. He has a really good understanding around the box, when to attack it, and that's why he gets a lot of chances and that's why hopefully he'll score a lot of goals."

If the two of them can continue their current form, Arsenal will have a strong chance of ending a two-decade-long wait to lift the Premier League title.

The Gunners return to action after the international break away to Bournemouth.
