Alex Gerrard, wife of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, has been living a life of luxury since her husband took up a job in the Middle East.

The former Reds captain was appointed as the manager of Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq in July 2023 after being let go by Aston Villa. He managed to secure several high-profile players last summer, including ex-Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson and extended his contract until 2027 at the start of this year.

The legendary Liverpool midfielder signed a lucrative deal with the Saudi Pro League Club, reportedly earning him £15million annually. This places him among the highest-paid coaches globally, however, he does not reside with his family in Saudi Arabia.

Gerrard's family declined the offer of a house in Damman, where he works. Instead, Alex and their four children have made their home in Bahrain, reports the Mirror.

The Gulf nation is conveniently located not too far from Damman which allows the Gerrard family to enjoy a glamorous lifestyle. Reports suggest that the family reside in a luxurious villa in the village of Hamala.

Their residence, costing around £10,000 per month, boasts a swimming pool and games room, and has members of Bahraini royalty as neighbours. Model and fashion columnist, Curran and Gerrard started their romance in 2002, tying the knot five years later.

Since relocating to the Middle East, it's been reported that the 41-year-old enjoys frequenting the Bahrain World Trade Center in Manama, home to luxury fashion brands, and the waterfront shopping centre, The Avenues. Despite Gerrard dividing his time between two countries, the family still finds opportunities to enjoy quality time together.

They hold memberships at the exclusive Four Seasons, which features the Cut restaurant run by Michelin star chef Wolfgang Puck, and the Ritz Carlton, where Premier League games are screened in an open-air bar. The Gerrards have also been seen spending leisure time at the Bahrain Rugby Club.

The couple share four children: Lilly-Ella, 20; Lexie, 18; Lourdes, 12 and Lio, 7. Their youngest attends a prestigious English language school in Bahrain, with fees nearing £11k per child.

Gerrard's coaching responsibilities involve an hour-long commute from Hamala to Damman, including traversing a 15-mile causeway between the two countries. Despite not residing in Saudi Arabia, it seems the Gerrards have managed to strike a work-life balance, with Steven committed to Al Ettifaq until 2027.

The ex-Rangers coach expressed his contentment upon extending his contract in January, revealing the impact on his family life: "The renewal decision brought a lot of positive feelings for me and my family, as it was the culmination of the hard work and true dedication that everyone showed from day one," he said.

He further elaborated on the club's growth, saying: "From the beginning, we realised the size of the responsibility and the number of challenges that awaited us, which prompted us to invest in creating new infrastructure, such as new training facilities and building a new stadium. We have achieved remarkable progress in these projects, as a result of the mutual trust between me and the club management."
