How to watch Champions League final for free as Real Madrid take on Borussia Dortmund

It's Champions League final day. For the first time since 2013, London's Wembley Stadium hosts UEFA's showpiece occasion in which Borussia Dortmund - who also played in that final 11 years ago - face Real Madrid tonight (8pm).

And while Champions League football is usually only available to TNT Sports subscribers in the UK, this evening's match is freely available for everyone - but not on YouTube as with previous years.

Those who pay for TNT Sports subscriptions will be able to watch the final on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate.

But for those who don't pay for TNT, the match can be watched for free via discovery+. Those wishing to watch must log in to an existing account or create a free account and the live stream will be accessible without needing to pay.

The match can be watched on smartphones, laptops and tablets on the discovery+ website or via their app. It can also be streamed on a smart TV.

The build-up, on both TNT Sports and discovery+, will begin at 6pm with the programme scheduled to finish at 11pm. It will run beyond that time, though, if the final goes to extra time and penalties.

Dortmund lost the 2012-13 final 2-1 to arch rivals Bayern Munich and have not won the European Cup since 1997, which is the only time they have ever lifted the iconic trophy.

By contrast, Real Madrid have the richest history of any club in the Champions League. Los Blancos have won it 14 times - seven more than any other team.

They won it in 1998, the year after Dortmund's triumph, and the Spanish heavyweights have gone on to win it another seven times since then. Their latest success came in 2022 against Liverpool in Paris.

Victory tonight would be Real Madrid's 15th but England midfielder Jude Bellingham's first.

And the 20-year-old, who will play a starring role for the Three Lions at Euro 2024, is relishing the occasion.

"To play this kind of game is the reason I'm here," said ex-Dortmund midfielder Bellingham, who has enjoyed a 23-goal, 12-assist debut season in Spain. "I always dreamed of playing for this team and scoring goals.

"This team means Champions League - it's what they always want. I want to make a little bit of history with this team. It's very special for me to play this game, but we have to try to put the emotions to one side.

"It's important we're at our best. It's difficult for the other teams when we play at that level. I have 100 per cent confidence."

Dortmund icon Marco Reus will wave goodbye to the Bundesliga club tonight after a 12-year stint at the Westfalenstadion. Reus, 35, was part of the squad who finish runners-up to Bayern 11 years ago.

And his only silverware has been two DFB Pokals and three Super Cups. He said: "Their players are used to these moments and they must be less nervous.

"But this doesn't decide whether you win the game or not, because it will be decided on the pitch. It's a one-off game and anything is possible. We must believe, we will believe."
