Arsenal might be about to get a helping hand from PSG before launching their £40million bid to buy midfielder Mohammed Kudus. Gunners’ boss Mikel Arteta has already spent £200million this summer and needs to reduce his squad size before boosting their quality further.
Spanish media outlet Relevo has reported that Arsenal could get a helping hand from PSG who are eyeing a move for Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares. PSG are in the market for a defender following an injury to Nuno Mendes - with his recovery time unknown.
That will come as welcome news to Arteta with 23-year-old Tavares surplus to requirements at the Emirates. The former Benfica star was signed for around £8million two years ago and made 22 Premier League appearances in his first season.
However, last year he was sent out on a season-long loan to Marseille and the French side were denied a favoured option to make the deal permanent. Arsenal could be about to change direction on the Portuguese international after already spending big this summer.

Declan Rice broke the club's transfer record with West Ham holding out for £105m for the midfield. His arrival followed that of Kai Havertz from Chelsea for £75m and defender Jurrien Timber (£40m).
Before making any move for Kudus the Gunners boss wants to sell up to six players. During their pre-season tour in America, the Arsenal chief hinted at moving some of his squad members on.

“We have made some important signings, like the other teams are doing as well,” said Arteta. "The club has done tremendously well.
“It’s great because it gives us time to prepare in the right way. Every season we are trying to develop our players to a level, and when we don’t reach that level, we have to recruit. What we have done this summer which improves the squad significantly.”
