Manchester United are ready to step down on the accelerator in their pursuit of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to reports. If he gets his way, Erik ten Hag could seal his first two summer signings next week, with Mason Mount also high on the agenda.
Next Friday, David de Gea's United contract expires, spelling the end of his 12-year service as No 1 at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have been linked with an array of potential successors who suit Ten Hag's desire for a goalkeeper comfortable with his feet with a wide passing range to boot.
FC Porto's Diogo Costa and Brentford's David Raya are among names linked, but Onana looks to be at the top of the pile.
And according to Gazzetta dello Sport, United are expected to make an opening bid for the 27-year-old by the end of next week.
The Old Trafford giants are said to have informed Onana's agent during face-to-face talks in Manchester that they plan to lodge an offer worth up to £43million.
The report adds that such a fee could convince Inter to cash in on the Cameroon international after a stellar season, during which he helped the Serie A outfit reach the Champions League final.
His arrival would follow the trend of Ten Hag recruiting players he trusts at United, given their previous relationship at Ajax.
The Dutchman brought Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Antony and Wout Weghorst to the club in his first season, all of whom have some sort of link to his career.
