But the Gunners, who value the player at £40m, will do whatever it takes to keep Fabregas at the Emirates.
Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood told Goal.com: "The message has been given to
them we don’t want to lose him and will do our damnedest to keep him."
Barcelona president Joan Laporta wants to meet with Arsenal over the
next few days to thrash out a deal for Fabregas.
However, with the Spanish champions £420m in the red and Arsenal unwilling to sell, the deal now looks unlikely.
Hill added: "We haven’t had an official approach from them and have made it perfectly clear we don’t want to lose him."
