Man Utd: Pundit accuses Ed Woodward of lying about transfers
Former Manchester United chief Ed Woodward would be in line to earn £14.3million should Sheikh Jassim manage to buy the club, it has been claimed. The Qatari billionaire is fighting to oust the Glazers at Old Trafford. And it’ll be fascinating to see how the situation unfolds, with interested suitors having until 10pm on Friday to make their proposals.
Woodward was a villain in the eyes of many United fans due to his close relationship with the Glazers.
He left his post in February 2022, having announced his intentions to quit the club following the failed European Super League plot roughly 12 months previously.
According to The Athletic, Sheikh Jassim is willing to pay £5billion in order to acquire United.
That’s an amount that would make any takeover the biggest in football history, even if the club are valued closer to £3bn instead.
And it’s claimed Woodward would be in line for a windfall of close to £14.3m should Sheikh Jassim’s pursuit end up being successful.

Elliott Management, Ares Management Corporation, Sixth Street and Carlyle are looking for that, amid claims the Glazers could end up staying as owners.
Woodward, meanwhile, was replaced by Richard Arnold.
And Arnold, back in June, had a candid chat with fans at a pub and criticised the way the club have ‘burned through cash’.
“We spent a billion pounds on players, more than anyone in Europe,” he said at the time.
“I’m not thrilled where we are. It doesn’t sit easy with me and I worry how we get this sorted for the future.

“What’s happened is we have f****** burned through cash.
“You can’t go to our training ground and say ‘show me where the £1billion is because we haven’t spent money well historically.
“Last year was a f****** nightmare. There was hate at every game. We’ve blown through an enormous amount of money.”
A spokesperson for Manchester United responded by saying: “Richard heard that a group of fans had gathered in a pub near his house.
“He went to meet them, bought them all a drink, listened to their views, and explained what the club is doing to deliver success on the pitch, improve the stadium, and strengthen engagement with fans.”
