With Manchester United’s clash with Newcastle creeping closer, and takeover talk rumbling on, the Red Devils remain in the spotlight. Speculation surrounding Ruben Neves and Sheikh Jassim arose over the weekend, while Paul Scholes snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo. Express Sport now takes a look at all the latest emerging from Old Trafford.

There have been suggestions that the Glazers could end up staying at United, despite talk of a takeover.
However, the Daily Mail say Sheikh Jassim is keeping his cool and is still confident of purchasing the club.
It’s claimed those close to the Qatari billionaire insist they believe their bid will be successful, while they have ‘ample funds’ to buy the club and invest in the stadium, squad and local community.
Sheikh Jassim isn’t alone in looking to buy United, however.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe can’t be ruled out, with the 70-year-old hoping to strike gold after missing out on Chelsea last year.
United legend Paul Scholes was asked by the club to name his dream five-a side team on TikTok.
But despite playing alongside icons such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, the pair failed to make the cut.
Peter Schmeichel got the nod in goal, ahead of Scholes’ former team-mates Edwin van der Sar and Peter Schmeichel.
Rio Ferdinand was selected in defence, with Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane then deployed together in midfield.
And, up top, Ruud van Nistelrooy made the cut ahead of Ronaldo and Rooney - with the Dutchman previously bagging 150 goals across all competitions during his time in Manchester.

Rashford advice
Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks United must do all they can to keep hold of Marcus Rashford - regardless of the expense that may involve.
“The club don’t have a choice,” the former Aston Villa star told Football Insider. “I don’t blame Rashford for waiting it out. He won’t care about a wage cap.
“He’s in the best position in world football. He’s in a hot streak, playing the best football of his life – and he’s got 18 months left.
“If he doesn’t get what he wants at United, he would get it anywhere else. Any other top club would pay that.
“The wage cap has to be smashed. I can see Rashford getting £400,000-a-week, because of the position he’s in.
“He’s got Man United in a corner. He won’t be in a rush to sign anything, and it’s a headache for the club because they now can’t afford to lose him.”

Eriksen provides injury update
Speaking to club media, Christian Eriksen delivered an update on his recovery from injury by saying: “I am very good thank you, very well thank you.
“It's very quiet at Carrington I would say, I haven't been here when it's this quiet. Maybe it was a bit similar when I signed and the whole team was in Australia. That was also very quiet.
“There is literally no-one here [laughs]. Nah, there are still a few people, but compared to normal there is nobody here.
“It is weird not being on international duty, you are normally away and now it's more the thing you are following your national team, and you are here instead of being with them.
“That is weird, but it has happened before so you get used to it. But, still, you enjoy it less.”
