World Cup 2022 briefing: Day 13
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has added fuel to the fire regarding rumours linking his England colleague Jude Bellingham with a move to Anfield. The Borussia Dortmund man has been one of the most impressive players at the World Cup, and could be set for a big-money move in the summer with a host of top clubs interested in a potential move.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have had a long-standing interest in the midfielder, back to his days at Birmingham before he opted to leave England in favour of a move to the Bundesliga. A deal, however, will not come cheap.
The Times have claimed that the new fee being quoted for the England man is £129m, which would represent a significant outlay for any club wishing to sign Bellingham. Henderson has been impressed with the 19-year-old during their time together in Qatar and claimed that the pair are “cut from the same cloth” in a glowing verdict.

“I can see it [a strong work ethic] in Jude and it’s incredible to see for a 19-year-old,” Henderson said. “We’re maybe cut from the same cloth in the way we love football and how we dedicate our lives to the game, so maybe that makes me warm to him a bit more.
"I can see the maturity he has beyond his years and the way he plays the game with personality. He has been incredible for a large period of time now, but certainly in this tournament I think he has been incredible."

Bellingham has started all three of England’s World Cup games under Gareth Southgate, and looks set to retain his place for the round-of-16 tie with Senegal on Sunday. Liverpool boss Klopp may have hoped that his prior relationship with Dortmund could have been a factor in positive negotiations between the two clubs, as the German takes up more of a role in the Reds’ transfer plans, but Dortmund’s managing director Carsten Cramer confirmed that would not be the case.
“We have a high sympathy for Liverpool for sure," Cramer told Vietnam News. "We are still in a good relationship with Jurgen and many others at Liverpool, so for me, it's my preferred club in the EPL as well. But don't expect that we will make gifts to Liverpool.
“He [Bellingham] has a contract. I'm a sales person regarding commercial business, but not regarding the player's business. We are happy to have him on board 100 per cent and the longer Jude will play for us, the better it will be.”
