Liverpool's next six Premier League fixtures
EnglandWorld Cup star Mason Mount has been told that Liverpool can be one of his options in the transfer window after the midfielder turned down a new contract at Chelsea. Since breaking into the team at Stamford Bridge, Mount has been a mainstay in the team under several managers but could be set to leave the club.
The Telegraph have previously reported that both Liverpool and Juventus are keeping an eye on Mount’s situation, as he has turned down an offer of £200,000-a-week amid growing uncertainty around his future. Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes the new ownership group at Chelsea has changed how contracts are handled, and that Mount could leave for either Jurgen Klopp’s side or Manchester City.
“Mount has outplayed his contract,” Campbell told Football Insider. “He’s won the Champions League and done very well at Chelsea. If they’re not offering the type of contract he wants, he might be tempted to try his luck somewhere else – like a Liverpool or a Man City.
“He might have been disappointed by that offer. Normally you don’t see too many negotiations with players like him, it’s just a case of getting him signed up. We’ve seen [Antonio] Rudiger leave Chelsea, now Mount hasn’t signed.

"I’m sure they’ll come to an agreement, but things aren’t the same at Stamford Bridge now Roman Abramovich has left. Before, these mega deals would be wrapped up easily – there was no messing around.”
Mount would fit into Klopp’s high-pressing style as a hard-working midfielder, though they would face the same concern Chelsea are deliberating over if Mount does reportedly wish to be amongst the highest earners with Raheem Sterling at £300,000-a-week. Pep Guardiola’s outfit could afford to pay Mount his desired salary, but the England man would have to compete with Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan for a spot in midfield.

Negotiations will still be ongoing between Chelsea and Mount over a potential new deal, though before the World Cup the 23-year-old admitted that he is only focusing on his football.
“I have always been so focused on my football since I was in the academy,” Mount said. “I know now there is a lot more media focus on me, but I do not look too much into that. I block it out.”
Mount’s current contract is set to expire in 2024, and with just over 18 months left on his deal rival Premier League clubs will grow in confidence that they could tempt him away from Stamford Bridge after a seven-year contract has already been turned down and the two parties remain locked in negotiations.
