Rooney says he would love to manage Man Utd or Everton
Manchester United hero Wayne Rooney believes the Glazers must give their next permanent manager time, backing and the ability to operate without interference from the top. The Red Devils are interested in the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag and Luis Enrique as they hunt a permanent replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. And Rooney has also given advice to Harry Maguire, with the centre-back currently in the spotlight.
Rooney had a glittering career during his time at Old Trafford.
After joining from Everton back in the summer transfer window of 2004, he’d go on to spend 13 glittering years at the club.
Rooney also won five Premier League titles as well as the Champions League during that spell, while he also overtook Sir Bobby Charlton to become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Since the England international departed, however, the club haven’t won a single trophy.
They’re currently in the midst of a nightmare campaign, with their title hopes already over.
They’ve also been dumped out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup so far, meaning the Champions League represents their last chance of a trophy.

United won’t be hiring Ralf Rangnick permanently, with the German currently in charge until the end of the campaign.
And Rooney feels United need to appoint somebody and give them time, backing and the chance to operate without any interference from the board.
“I think they're going through a tough period, obviously,” Rooney told The Mirror, speaking at the premiere of a new film charting his life and career.
“You can see a few things off the pitch, but it's a tough one.
“It's been going on for a while, if I'm being honest. These are things I brought up in 2010. To be fair, they've tried everything.
“They've tried very experienced managers in Louis van Gaal, they've tried Jose Mourinho, David Moyes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, one of their own, and now they've tried a more professor type in the new manager.
“I really do think they need to bring someone in and give them time, give them an opportunity to build a squad and let them compete and get back to the level we all feel they should be at.
“Manchester United and Everton are both clubs I'd love to manage one day but I've got a commitment to Derby County.
“I’m fighting for them, so my focus has to be on Derby.”
One player to have struggled for United this term is club captain, Maguire.
