Newcastle aren’t interested in Dele Alli despite their struggles when it comes to signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United, according to reports. Eddie Howe’s side are determined to stay in the Premier League. And they know late reinforcements could boost their chances of staying in the top flight.

Yet Alli’s career is at a crossroads with the player regressing under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte in recent years.
While Newcastle have been mooted as potential suitors for Alli, however, The Athletic say they currently have no interest in the midfielder.
Valencia are now frontrunners in the race to sign the 25-year-old instead.
There’s no guarantee a deal will be struck but the La Liga giants are ‘considering’, while Alli is also in talks with other Premier League sides.
Everton were, at once stage, an option for Alli.
But the Toffees are now primed to land Donny van de Beek from Manchester United instead, with the Netherlands international turning down Crystal Palace in favour of moving to Goodison Park.

“I’ll be honest with you, though, when you look at Dele Alli, if you put him in Man City’s team you would see a different player.
“You’ve got to have a decent back line to start with. Tottenham haven’t had a decent back line for ages.
“He roves in a No.10 role and he’s as good as owt when he was. But they’re not getting that ball, they’re having to fight for everything to get a look in.
“Because they are not good enough at the back, it opens all the positions. That’s why he’s got to go.

“He will find somewhere as he’s a good player when he’s on, but he’s just gone backwards.”
Conte batted away questions over Alli after his side’s defeat to Chelsea, instead insisting he wasn’t the one who would decide the player’s fate.
"I don't want to comment about single players," Conte said.
"There is the club to make the best decision on this aspect for the players that we are to buy or sell.
"There is also a sporting director and a chairman who I have to speak to and they take the last decision. It's right to speak to them - not me."
