Who is Ralf Rangnick? Man Utd's interim boss in profile
Ralf Rangnick’s imminent appointment at Manchester United has seen Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek change their mind about leaving Old Trafford, reports say. The duo weren’t given much of a chance to impress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Yet things may now be different in the future with a managerial change on the cards.
The board had originally planned to stick with the Norwegian but, after a 4-1 defeat away at Watford, decided to pull the trigger instead.
Now, United are set to turn to Rangnick.
The 63-year-old has wowed John Murtough in interviews and is poised to get the job ahead of Rudi Garcia and Ernesto Valverde, who also held talks about taking over.
And ESPN say that, with Solskjaer no longer at the helm, Martial and Van de Beek have put their exit plans on hold.
Martial was the club’s top scorer in Solskjaer’s first full season, netting 23 times across all competitions.
