In the Sky Sports studio, the show host suggested a club legend could take over on an interim basis.
He touted Laurent Blanc and Steve Bruce as potential candidates, as well as jokingly namedropping Neville.
In response, the ex-United defender firmly shut down the idea of a return to management, prompting Jamie Redknapp and Micah Richards to burst out with laughter.
He said: "I can absolutely assure you, 100 per cent, it won't be me. I wouldn't take it just so them lot couldn't commentate on me."

Amid reports claiming Mauricio Pochettino is United's primary choice to permanently succeed Solskjaer, Neville is sceptical over whether he would leave Paris Saint-Germain if he succeeds in France.
"Well they are waiting. They're waiting on Mauricio Pochettino not being successful at another club," Neville explained.
"Because obviously if Mauricio Pochettino was successful at Paris Saint-Germain, if he was to win the Champions League, then obviously PSG wouldn't let him go.
"I think Pochettino has always been a standout candidate. He's the only name that I've ever really mentioned as someone who I thought really suited Manchester United.

"[He suits the club] in terms of its core principles and values and how they play; how he acts and how he behaves.
"I've always thought he was that type of person, and he's not really been successful as a manager yet, but I do think that he has those characteristics and attributes.
"But it's too early to start talking about a new manager. There's a lot of water to go under the bridge yet.
"They've got an interim-interim at the moment. They've got to find the interim in the next week or two to relieve Michael Carrick of his duties."
