Manchester United have identified Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers as their preferred candidate, should they sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports. Rodgers ticks two important boxes, which could see United push to lure him away from the Foxes in the coming weeks.

According to ESPN, Rodgers is ahead of Antonio Conte in the race to replace Solskjaer as United assess his future.
The Red Devils are keen to continue promoting youth and implement an attractive style of football, leading to potential domestic targets.
Rodgers has impressed many at Leicester, narrowly missing out on Champions League football in the last two seasons and overseeing FA Cup success in May, beating Solskjaer's side in the quarter-finals.
He also enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at Celtic and almost ended Liverpool's long Premier League title search in 2014.

Solskjaer is likely to remain at United until next month's international break, with three big games to come before then.
Board members such as Sir Alex Ferguson fought his corner after Sunday's humiliating 5-0 home defeat to Liverpool.
But United are looking at alternative options in case Solskjaer can't pull the club from its current rut of form.
After five defeats in their last nine games in all competitions, United are in a crisis, and it is expected to lead to a change in the dug-out eventually.

ESPN claim Solskjaer's continued reign is partly down to the lack of credible interim appointments available to the club.
But United are ready to relieve the Norwegian legend of his duties, and Rodgers is seemingly one of three outstanding targets.
Ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is available and ready to succeed Solskjaer, but United are unconvinced his personality and attitude matches their philosophy.
Mauricio Pochettino also has long-standing admirers at Old Trafford, but it'd be difficult to lure him away from PSG after signing a contract extension in the summer.
