Ronaldo: All you need to know about Man Utd-linked star
Cristiano Ronaldo, as things stand, could leave Juventus before the transfer window slams shut on August 31. It’s Manchester City who seem to be leading the race for the forward, with Pep Guardiola struggling to prise Harry Kane away from Tottenham. But Manchester United can’t be entirely ruled out, with their own stance already known.

But with Spurs flatly refusing to sell their prized asset, it’s feasible Ronaldo could end up playing at the Etihad Stadium instead.
However, while that’s the case, a move to United can’t be ruled out.
The Athletic revealed back in May that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was open to re-signing his compatriot, but only if the finances stack up.
It’s even claimed the Norwegian ‘would not hesitate’ when it comes to bringing the 36-year-old, who won three Premier League titles during his spell at Old Trafford, back home.
The report says the wages United would give Ronaldo would have to be bigger than what David De Gea, their top earner, pockets.
But United admire Ronaldo for his pedigree, huge commercial pull and the relatively short-term length of any potential contract.

"I did try to teach them a few things," Solskjaer has said of those early days passing on his expertise to a new generation of United players.
"I think I’ve got more knowledge than most of making the most out of your opportunities.
“I was never the quickest, never the strongest or tallest, so I had to be clever.
"Every time when Wayne or Cristiano shifted the ball to the side and put it back through the legs of the defender, and the goalkeeper’s just stranded, I used to nudge my kids and say, 'Your dad’s taught them that!'"
Solskjaer also revealed he was in contact with Ronaldo when speaking after Bruno Fernandes’ arrival in January 2020.

“We’ve got the chief scouts who do all the scouting, we’ve got the analysts who analyse and break everything down to a minutest detail. But you can see that with your eye really what talent and quality you’ve got,” Solskjaer told the High Performance Podcast.
“Then you speak to teammates, who maybe play with them in the national team.
“So obviously Cristiano was an easy goal for me.
“I managed to get through Patrice Evra, I managed to get hold of Cristiano and his recommendation obviously stands him [Fernandes] in good stead.”
