Guardiola gives verdict on Man City's defeat at Tottenham
With their move for Harry Kane appearing to be on the brink of stalling, Manchester City are now turning to alternative options. One of those alternatives is a player who Tottenham themselves have also targeted during this summer’s transfer window.
Kane has been one of City’s main targets this summer, with the England captain having demanded to leave Spurs.
But a deal appears to be further away than ever, with Tottenham holding out for a fee in the region of £150million, a price City are unwilling to match.
Pep Guardiola’s need for a striker was made clear in their opening day defeat to Spurs last Sunday.
City had 18 shots in the game, as well as enjoying 66 per cent of the possession, but failed to find a way past Hugo Lloris.
With their main rivals for the Premier League title, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United, all possessing high-quality strikeforces, City’s priority in the final two weeks of the window is obvious.

While they hope to tie him down to a new contract this summer, Fiorentina are ready to sell Vlahovic for the right price.
Up to now, it appeared that Spurs and Arsenal were the leading Premier League destinations for the 21-year-old.
But Tutto Mercato Web report that amid City’s inability to sign Kane, the Premier League champions are now eyeing a move for Vlahovic.
It is stated that a “very important offer” is about to be submitted, with the fee that City are set to agree to expected to convince Fiorentina to sell.

That report has been backed up by Fiorenze Viola, who state that City have decided to enter the race for the Serbian.
They also claim that City are ready to offer a fee of £68m in return for the striker, which includes “easily accessible” bonuses.
What could be crucial is the fact that City believe Vlahovic is a “substitute” for Kane, not just for this season, but “especially for the future”.
The Serie A side are now reportedly waiting for the offer to be submitted, despite their desire for the 21-year-old to remain at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.
