The Carabao Cup second round draw will take place tonight (Wednesday evening) and will be conducted live on Sky Sports after Leyton Orient’s first round clash with Queens Park Rangers, which kicks off at 7.45pm. The draw will once again be regionalised with a north and south divide, with games scheduled to take place the week commencing August 23.
The 13 Premier League clubs who missed out on European qualification last season will enter the competition at the second round stage.
That means the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Leeds United will all have their names in the hat.
Arsenal have not won the Carabao Cup since 1993, with the club mainly using the competition to blood youngsters during Arsene Wenger’s reign.
They did, however, reach the final in 2018 and will be entering the competition at the second round stage after missing out on European football for the first time in 26 years.
Five-time winners Aston Villa will have their name in Wednesday night’s draw, as will former champions Wolves and Norwich City.

West Bromwich Albion and Fulham, who were both relegated from the Premier League last season, will join for the second round, with Sheffield United having entered at the first round after finishing bottom of the top flight last time out.
In total, there will be 50 teams in the second round, with five further ties taking place tonight.
Birmingham City, who won the competition in 2011 will be involved in the second round after beating Colchester United on Tuesday night, while 2013 champions Swansea City are also safely through.
Meanwhile, previous winners Sheffield Wednesday and Luton Town have already been knocked out of the competition.

The Carabao Cup provided a whole host of shocks in the first round on Tuesday night as seven Championship sides were dumped out of the competition, with six of those teams being defeated by lower league opposition.
Manchester City have dominated in recent years, winning the tournament in five of the last six seasons.
Pep Guardiola is known for naming strong sides in the competition and has led his side to the last four titles.
Last season City defeated Tottenham in the final just days after Jose Mourinho was sacked by the north London club.
In 2019 it took a penalty shootout for them to defeat Chelsea after the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
Neighbours Manchester United were the last team other than City to win the competition, lifting the trophy under Mourinho in 2017 after seeing off Southampton in the final.
The Manchester duo will both enter the competition in the third round alongside the five other clubs who are playing in Europe.
