Rodgers gives update on Maddison amid Arsenal links
Arsenal are waiting for Martin Odegaard to decide on his Real Madrid future before pursuing a permanent deal, according to reports. The Norwegian midfielder could look to depart for regular football this summer, with Mikel Arteta eyeing a swoop.
Odegaard was an essential fixture in Arteta's team during his loan stint in the second half of last season.
The 22-year-old made 20 appearances in the Premier League and Europa League before returning to Real for the 2021/22 season.
But new manager Carlo Ancelotti's recent selections have suggested that Odegaard may struggle to receive consistent minutes throughout the campaign ahead.
In the case of the attacking midfielder asking to leave the Spanish capital, Arsenal will be at the forefront of clubs interested in signing him.

According to DefensaCentral, Odegaard's absence from Ancelotti's starting line-up in Real's final pre-season friendly against AC Milan has raised fresh doubts over his future.
Toni Kroos' injury was seen as an opportunity to break into the team, but Ancelotti opted for Isco alongside Luka Modric and Casemiro in the 0-0 draw with Milan.
DefensaCentral claim Los Blancos want Odegaard to remain at the club because they have faith in his substantial potential.
But if a suitable offer arrives for his services this summer, they will reconsider their stance in the face of a financial boost.

However, Arteta seems to intend to upgrade his options in attacking midfield, and Odegaard has emerged as a real possibility.
