Jack Grealish: Stats for Man City-linked midfielder
England and Aston Villa star Jack Grealish is one of Manchester City's top transfer targets at the moment, and could be available due to a previously-unknown release clause, reports suggest. Grealish has starred for Aston Villa over recent seasons, helping them to easily secure survival in the Premier League last season.
The Englishman scored seven goals and notched 12 assists in 27 appearances for his club last year, showcasing his talent.
That talent has drawn the eye of Pep Guardiola, who is searching for a new left winger as looks to upgrade his attacking options.
While City swept all before them in the Premier League on their way to a third title in four years, their Champions League final defeat highlighted their deficiencies in attacking areas.
That is particularly the case on the left wing, the position that Grealish occupies for Villa and for England.
While Raheem Sterling was rejuvenated at Euro 2020, his club form last season was poor, leading Guardiola to look to Grealish.

Villa will certainly not want their star man and captain to leave this summer, though it may be out of the Midlands club’s hands.
That is because, according to The Athletic, Grealish has a buyout clause in his contract, something that it is said City are “fully prepared” to trigger.
The clause is hidden though because Villa have never discussed the terms of Grealish’s contract, with the winger having signed his latest deal last September.
While the exact release figure is not yet known, it would likely be less than the price tag Villa would otherwise put on their star man.

Following his starring role for England at Euro 2020, where he provided two assists on England’s run to the final, Grealish has gone on holiday.
The 25-year-old has now left his future in the hands of his representatives while he is away.
It is stated in The Athletic’s report that though Villa are hopeful he stays in Brimingham, that would represent a U-turn after the progress City have made.
Both clubs and Grealish himself, will likely hope to have sorted his future by the time of the opening round of the Premier League, in less than 30 days’ time.
