Liverpool: Wijnaldum comments as contract saga goes on
Liverpool icon John Barnes has detailed why he believes Yves Bissouma is the ideal transfer target for Jurgen Klopp heading into the summer window. Jurgen Klopp has had to chop and change his midfield this season due to a number of injuries.
He's not been able to start his usual midfield trio of Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson in the league.
Thiago Alcantara has impressed in parts since returning to full fitness at the turn of the year while Curtis Jones has also continued his development to become a regular this season.
The likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner have had to deal with less minutes in large part due to injuries but also some inconsistent performances.
There aren't expected to be many changes in midfield this summer, but Klopp will have to likely say farewell to Wijnaldum.

The Holland international is out of contract in the summer with no signs that an extension will be signed.
It could be Wijnaldum's last appearance in a Liverpool shirt this weekend against Crystal Palace, but Klopp refused to confirm whether the midfielder will be leaving.
He said: "Well there is, in the moment, nothing really to say about [it] because we have a game to play.
"We will see about all these things Sunday or the time after that. Nothing else to say."
But Wijnaldum's departure does look inevitable which may leave a gaping hole in Klopp's midfield as the 30-year-old has been an ever-present for Liverpool over the past few years.
And Barnes wants to see his former club go after Brighton's Bissouma to fill that void.
"Liverpool should sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton," he told Goal.
"In terms of what Liverpool want, he is the type of player that will suit how Liverpool play."
