Chelsea have dismissed club legend Frank Lampard after a torrid run of games in the Premier League. Thomas Tuchel is expected to replace him with an announcement planned before the Blues take on Wolves on Wednesday night. But the German will have his work cut out for him.
Tuchel is set to become the next Chelsea manager after owner Roman Abramovich ruthlessly wielded the axe on club legend Lampard.
The Englishman had less than 18 months in charge and following a run of two Premier League wins in eight, he has been sacked.
Against a backdrop of poor performances, player disunity and a weary relationship with Marina Granovskaia, the writing was on the wall for Lampard.
And the Blues are not wasting any time looking for a replacement with Tuchel reportedly agreeing to become the club's next manager.

Tuchel was recently sacked from Paris St-Germain after encountering problems with sporting director Leonardo.
But Abramovich is a fan of the German's style of play, which earned him huge plaudits while in France and with Borussia Dortmund.
The Russian owner is desperate for a similar style of football exhibited by Liverpool in recent seasons and has found a coach as close to Jurgen Klopp as possible.
However, he will have to hit the ground running and four players are in desperate need of his coaching more than anyone.
Kai Havertz
Trending
Kai Havertz is the one most needing an arm around his shoulder and a clear tactical plan after failing to make much of an impact since his move in the summer.
Chelsea did remarkably well to land the Bayer Leverkusen ace, who signed for a club-record fee, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid interested.
He has been identified as one of the best talents to come out of Germany in years but has failed to show his skills at Stamford Bridge so far.
One of the reasons is Lampard's formation, which does not use a No. 10 - where Havertz has shone for Leverkusen and Die Mannschaft.
Under Tuchel, that could change and Abramovich is hoping the German connection can bear fruit.
